Episode 236: I’ve Missed You! (Have You Missed Me?)

Here are the quilts I talked about in this episode:

Riley Blake Challenge Quilt

Dorothy’s Pinwheel Quilt

A close-up on the quilting, while the quilting was still in progress:

The back of the quilt, which is my favorite part:

The quilt I’m making for my friend. Can’t figure out quite what I’m doing, but I’m interested …

Books I mentioned (with a mangling of titles and authors):

Normal People by Sally Rooney

Underland: A Deep Time Journey by Robert MacFarlane

  1. THANK YOU FRANCES… I was dying of boredom…. great to get caught up with you. You did a great job with your FMQing spirals … mine are never round more of a lop-sided and wonky …. so I just make them more lop sided and wonky so it does not look like bad quilting but purposeful.

I loved MARGRET GOES MODERN but I gave my copy to the guild as I figured that would introduce your books to more quilters/ listeners/ readers. I get it back if the guild ever disbands. … Maybe I should check it out again.

Love SACRED THREAD exhibit .. I make a point to check when it comes to mid-MI.

  2. Good to hear from you again, although I’ve been listening to past podcasts all summer long and have really enjoyed “your company”. I found you through the Friendship album 1933 podcast which I absolutely loved and now miss. I want to hear/read more about these interesting women!! I love it that you’ve added the playful back to your pinwheel quilt. So clever! Keep up the good work.

  3. Congratulations on 25 years! Here’s to the next 25!

I can’t imagine the heat you have. Here in Alberta, we might reach 30C (85F) today, and the weather department is putting out “heat warnings”. I kid you not! Of course, it’s rare to have air conditioning in our homes, so they do get warm. I’m planning on visiting our local museum this afternoon. And not just because it’s air conditioned.

I really like the pinwheel quilt. Front and back! I’ve never handquilted a quilt. I took a class and did a pillow top. I think it would take me years to do an entire quilt though.

  4. Yay! So glad you’re back! I missed you! As you were nearing the end of the podcast, I was getting worried that you didn’t remember to promote your upcoming appearance on the Sew Sweetness Book Club, but, you came through! Good job! I love the idea of naming your quilt “Back Story” and submitting it! Go for it! XO PS: I LOVE SUMMER!!!
