I’ve had this episode ready to go for several days, but have been too lazy to post it. That’s the end of winter for you. I just want to hibernate. But it will be spring soon!

Here’s my off-kilter Irish Chain:

And in case you needed a little color in your life, here’s a picture of Will’s new shoes:

  1. Glad to hear your voice again, and glad your mom is doing well. I listened to this episode in the car and commented in my brain on all kinds of things that I can’t remember now. I do remember nodding along about the stress and almost post traumatic let down after an event. I actually felt that way for a few days after my Snowpocalypse adventure.

Love the Irish Chain – it does look very vintage in a lot of ways so I think you’re good.

  2. Thanks for keeping me company while I was moving Midshipmen to the airport for their Spring Break.

I miss North Carolina springs when everyone came back from our Spring Break wearing shorts (and since it was the 80s, they were really short.)

I’m now #2 on our library list for the latest Sarah Addison Allen! Woo Hoo!

So, so glad that your Mom is feeling better.

  3. Those mini-strokes are scary, aren’t they? I’m glad your mom recovered! I’m REALLY glad that I don’t need to share all the tips I learned when my friend had her stroke. (It affected her speech and sequencing as well as leaving her paralyzed on the right side.)

You don’t need a special hexagon ruler, especially if your hexagons are going to be an odd size. I’ve had good luck just using my regular Omnigrid ruler. I did a blog post on cutting them from squares ( http://quiltingpiecebypiece.wordpress.com/2013/02/21/cutting-hexagons-from-squares/ ), but once you figure out how tall they are going to be (the width will always be 2 times the length of the side), you can cut strips, fold them in half and cut the hexagons out that way. Easy peasy!

  4. I am so glad your mom is ok. My mom has had some TIAs and definitely – scary. I read Lost Lake and enjoyed it. I felt like I was there.

I watched the You Tube video you mentioned. My goodness, my kids never had a principal that rapped! Very cute.

Love your Irish Chain. Red and white quilts are just lovely and yours is for sure.
