And no, I haven’t gotten my act together to do a give-away or something to celebrate. Sigh. One day I’m going to get a little bit organized. But not today.

Mostly worked on chunking the Golden Quilt this week. Also, I popped into Thimble Pleasures and bought the backing fabric:

And the border fabrics–red for the inner border, gold for the outer:

Pretty!

Hope to have pix of the finished top next week. See you then!

  1. That’s a wonderful gold. It’s strange that it’s so hard to find nice gold fabrics. At least with the Modern Quilting in vogue, the fabric makers are finally putting out a nice range of grays and taupe! (p.s. congrats on 100!)

    — a.g, (I keep forgetting that my blog name shows up and not my real name…)

  2. Congratulations! I will be listening as soon as iTunes decides to let me have it.:) The new fabrics for the quilt are gorgeous.
Also, I got the new book from the library and loved it. My boys are reading the Phineas books too. 🙂

  3. In line to borrow “where’d You Go Bernadette?” and I’m number 128! I guess I will get to learn patience. Must be quite the popular book so thank you for the recommendation.

Happy Poscastaversary! Yours is one of the podcasts I LOVE to listen too. Keep up the fantastic work.

  4. The batiks are lovely.

Re you and Jack sharing a space…I get it. My sewing machine is in our family room where the big TV is located. Thank goodness I like sports, since that’s usually on. If this works, here’s Eric while I was quilting today. http://flic.kr/p/dhfWzB

  5. Hi Frances,
I was interested in your comments about atheism and your study of sacred texts. I have been having discussions on this subject with the Young Man. Most of my comments have been around translating and how languages reflect the culture and words often exist in one language that don’t exist in another.

I am sure that you and Jack will find your rhythm and he will be gone soon enough, so enjoy the time while he is downstairs. Perhaps you want to try listening to podcasts or watching your shows while he is wearing his headphones. Just try it and see if he notices. Perhaps noise cancelling headphones would be a good Christmas gift. 😉

Nice job on the quilt! Take care.
    Jaye

  6. So lovely! You are inspiring me!
Hope your tummy feels better. I am listening to summer episodes, trying to catch up. 🙂

  7. i love miniatures too! but instead i make charm bracelets–some of them are so clunky they’re more fun to look at than to wear 🙂 btw, many months ago, i commented on one of your podcasts that talked about a particular Fons & Porter magazine (the to-wrap-in-plastic-or-not controversy 🙂 and i mentioned that i liked a particular quilt in that issue (Mar/Apr 2011), “Sophisticated”–well, i’m actually working on it right now! doesn’t happen very often that i actually follow through!

  8. oops–forgot to say congratulations on 100 podcasts! i’ve listened to every one of them and have enjoyed them all! thank you for doing them. (btw, i save them for listening while sewing–wouldn’t want to “waste” it on exercising 🙂

  9. I know a Jungian therapist that has a large collection of miniatures. They are fascinating and I think “containing”- a small little world right on front of you. Maybe your dollhouse is made out of masonite? It sounds pretty cool.

100 episodes is quite something – it represents discipline and work ethic. I think you could toast this with your family, eye-rolling teens and all.

It sounds like you get real fall next week. I may be a little envious!

  10. Congratulations on 100 episodes – I really enjoy and appreciate each one of them. Also, thought I’d let you know that Annie Smith is going to be teaching a class at Thimble Pleasures on or around Nov 15th. Maybe you can stop by and urge her to get back to podcasting.

  11. Congrats on hitting 100!

The West Wing has been my go to quilting watching for a while now. I think that I’ve gone through all 7 seasons three or so times over the last year! I’ve even named some of my quilts after the episodes I was watching while I made them. 🙂

  12. Congrats on your 100th episode, and thanks! You are soooo right that I listen to your podcast while I am nowhere near a computer, and always think of a bunch of things to write you about, and then never do. But I remembered this time! The one thing I did remember was that you said you might be interested in drawing, but have never sat down and done it. Have you heard of Zentangle? You might like it…I never knew I enjoyed drawing until I tried it. (I also always thought I was terrible at drawing, but it turns out I just wasn’t drawing the right things!) More details at http://www.zentangle.com I found the best way to practice this was to do swaps with other people….so let me know if you are interested! (Or if you just want to see one of these in person, I bet I could be persuaded to make you one, since you are my favorite quilty podcaster and all.)
